1st Young-Adult Workcamp a "Smashing" Success!
Among all the changes that our young people experience as they graduate from High School and move on to the next phases of their lives, one of the more difficult ones is that they are no longer able to go on the Sr. High Workcamps in the summer. This year, the Youth and Young Adult Committee put together a start at easing that transition by sponsoring a mission trip for college students and other young adults. Jenna Meyers, Jon Ellis, Morgan Cicchetti, Stephen Thomas, Scott Kern, Tom Mulder, Kate Felter, Gregg Thomas, and Gary Ingram answered the call and spent the week after Memorial Day working on behalf of the Meeting Ground organization near Elkton, MD. Meeting Ground is a community that provides housing and services to homeless persons in Cecil county Maryland. We spent four days working at jobs including demolishing a garage, digging foundation holes, spreading mulch, cleaning barns, and installing windows. We also were able to spend quite a bit of time getting to know and playing with some of the children who were residing at Clairvoux Farm while we were there. If you'd like to learn more about Meeting Ground, you can view their website at
